CONTEC System Pedal Pierce

Clipless pedals, also known as System Pedals, such as the CONTEC Pierce, are primarily used in competitive cycling. Especially among gravel bike and road bike riders, the “clip-in pedal” is a popular way to maximize energy transfer while pedaling. But clip-in pedals can also be quite appealing to mountain bikers and enduro enthusiasts.

The Pierce features a clip-in system on both sides that, when used with the appropriate Pedal Cleats, secures the rider’s foot to the pedal. What might sound like a dangerous prospect to beginners at first is actually easy to learn. To unclip, you simply need to move your heel outward—a maneuver that’s a bit tricky at first before dismounting, but quickly becomes second nature.

The CONTEC Pierce is equipped with the SPD SL system on both sides. This system features a CrMo cleat with adjustable release tension. The compact, one-piece aluminum body of the Pierce pedal has a CNC-milled CrMo axle with a high-quality, sealed industrial bearing. Each pair of Pierce pedals weighs just 380 grams.
